Three ways we can develop strength through yoga (that aren't physical)
We all know that yoga is so much more than arm balances and Insta shape making right? 🤸🏼
Of course yoga is widely known and loved for its physical benefits (particularly on social, it makes great visual content online!) but we can cultivate true inner strength within ourselves in so many other ways through yoga.
🧘🏼Self acceptance takes strength. Switching off the negative voices, the ego, making comparisons with others. Yoga will accept you however you show up on your mat, and so should you.
🧘🏼Yoga encourages perseverance or tapas, one of the five niyamas within the eight limbs of yoga). Our determination to commit to our practice however it looks comes from the ‘fire’ within us. It takes strength of mind to roll out your mat when all you want to do is flop on the sofa.
🧘🏼Yoga helps us to become resilient. When we have challenges within our lives they can easily overwhelm us. We’re tired, life is exhausting at times! Our yoga practice can help us to adapt and cope with the obstacles and challenges life brings our way.
So when we talk about practicing yoga for strength remember it’s so much more than the physical.
